Forza Horizon 6 has a PS5 date, and the edition you choose changes when you can start. Playground Games’ October 8 announcement confirms January 26, 2027 for the Standard and Deluxe releases, with Premium Edition early access beginning January 21. For players planning a first convoy through Japan, those five days are the detail to settle before comparing the extras. This is a guide to the announced release plans, checked on October 24, rather than a claim that the port has just launched.

Cross-play, cross-save and the expansion date

The same announcement confirms cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions. That makes the PS5 launch relevant to groups whose friends already play elsewhere. It also gives returning players a reason to examine the account setup before buying again. Cross-save is about carrying progress; it does not, by itself, mean that purchasing a game on one storefront grants a copy on every other platform.

January 21 is also the announced date for the first Premium Expansion across platforms. Playground says it is included with the Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle, and will be offered separately. A free content update is planned alongside the PS5 release and expansion period, with further details still to come. The announcement does not describe every part of that update, so avoid building a purchase decision around unconfirmed features.

Which Forza Horizon 6 edition fits your plans?

Start an edition comparison with what you actually want to play. If your group begins on January 26 and you mainly want the base game, write that down before looking at larger bundles. If you want the first expansion, compare the relevant package against a separate purchase at the current regional prices. Our advice is to list the content you would use, then compare costs; a longer included-items list does not automatically make the more expensive choice right for you.

The Premium Upgrade requires the base game. That is an especially important line if you are buying digitally, where an upgrade can appear beside a full edition in search results. Check the product description, platform and region before checkout. Existing Xbox or PC owners should also verify the requirements for accessing progress on PS5, rather than assuming that matching display names are enough to connect accounts.

PS5 graphics modes: what is confirmed

For the presentation, Playground says PS5 offers a 60fps Performance mode; the announcement trailer was recorded in a 4K, 30fps Quality mode on a base PS5. Those are the published modes, not our performance test. When the port arrives, try the options on your own display and choose the balance you prefer between responsiveness and image detail.

For now, the useful plan is simple: agree on the edition and starting date with your friends, check whether you need the base game or an upgrade, and revisit the official release information closer to January. The confirmed dates make planning possible. Whether the port meets expectations on the road is a question for the finished PS5 version.
